It became apparent to me very quickly that he had no extraordinary talent at all. He has fought his way out of a number of tight corners by a simple combination of sheer luck and more talented friends. He is mediocre to the last degree, though as obnoxious and selfsatisfied as was his father before him.

PROTECTING YOUR HOME AND FAMILY AGAINST DARK FORCES

The Wizarding community is currently under threat from an organization calling itself the Death Eaters. Observing the following simple security guidelines will help protect you, your family, and your home from attack.

1) You are advised not to leave the house alone.

2) Particular care should be taken during the hours of darkness. Wherever possible, arrange to complete journeys before night has fallen.

4) Agree on security questions with close friends and family so as to detect Death Eaters masquerading as others by use of the Polyjuice Potion.

5) Should you feel that a family member, colleague, friend, or neighbor is acting in a strange manner, contact the Magical Law Enforcement Squad at once. They may have been put under the Imperius Curse.

6) Should the Dark Mark appear over any dwelling place or other building, DO NOT ENTER, but contact the Auror office immediately.

7) Unconfirmed sightings suggest that the Death Eaters may now be using Inferi. Any sighting of an Inferius, or encounter with same, should be reported to the Ministry IMMEDIATELY.

Judging by your look of stunned disbelief, Harry did not warn you that I was coming. However, let us assume that you have invited me warmly into your house. It is unwise to linger overlong on

doorsteps in these troubled times.

Golpalott’s Third Law

The antidote for a blended poison will be equal to more than the sum of the antidotes for each of the separate components.

Assuming we have achieved correct identification of the potion’s ingredients by Scarpin’s Revelaspell, our primary aim is not the relatively simple one of selecting antidotes to those ingredients in a of themselves, but to find that added component which will, by an almost alchemical process, transform these disparate elements.

Bezoars 

Professor Snape mentioned them in their first ever Potions lesson: a stone taken from the stomach of a goat, which will protect from most poisons.

Although, as they don’t work on everything, and are pretty rare, it’s still worth knowing how to mix antidotes.

Tom reached the seventh year of his schooling with top grades in every examination he had taken. 

Prefect, Head Boy, winner of the Award for Special Services to the School. 

Tim refused all offers of working at the Monastery of Magic and ended up working at Borgin and Burkes.

Tom's first choice was to remain at Hogwarts as teacher.

Firstly, and very importantly, Voldemort was more attached to this school than he has ever been to a person. Hogwarts was where he had been happiest; the first and only place he had felt at home.

Secondly, the castle is a stronghold of ancient magic. Undoubtedly Voldemort had penetrated many more of its secrets than most of the students who pass

through the place, but he may have felt that there were still mysteries to unravel, stores of magic to tap.

And thirdly, as a teacher, he would have had great power and influence over young witches and wizards and he saw it as a useful recruiting ground, and a place where he might begin to build himself an army.

Tom wanted to reach Defence Against the Dark Arts but was not appointed as Dumbledore did not want him back at the school in a position of power.

According to Professor Slughorn, a Horcrux is the

word used for an object in which a person has concealed part of their soul. 

You split your soul and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if one’s body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. 

“By an act of evil — the supreme act of evil. By commiting murder. Killing rips the soul apart. The wizard intent upon creating a Horcrux would use the

damage to his advantage: He would encase the torn portion with a spell.

This is a banned subject at Hogwarts.
