The Wrong Shape

Queer thing
Vestibule
A stormy evening of olive and silver

Radical radishes
Conservative jams
Socialist chimney-sweeps

A large lemon moon
Forest of high grass

Sky was of a vivid violet-blue
Nocturnal but bright

Thousand arms of the forest
Bleak and brilliant

Like splintered ice

* Poem inspired by The Complete Father Brown Stories written by G. K. Chesterton *
