I googled the phrase to make sure I remembered it exactly right, and I found your blogpost. I don't remember Madeline Bassett reciting poetry in the series, can you tell me the origin of "The Garden?" Did you write it, perhaps? I really like it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm not sure where ithe poem originated from, but Madeline Bassett recites it in series three, episode six (after the political rally fight amongst the Red Dawn and the Black Shorts).
DeleteThank you for the information! We have seen that one, but I don't remember, must be time for another viewing. Is that still original Madeline in that one, or replacement Madeline? I turned up a couple of unrelated songs, a hymn and a popular song called "In The Garden Of My Heart." It's quite possible Wodehouse wrote it, he wrote lyrics for hundreds of popular songs, though not as popular as ones by Ira Gershwin, for example. Ira (collaborating with somebody other than George) wrote the silly "Sunny Disposish" used in an earlier episode. But I bet you already knew that!
