Troth: An Anthology of Light Verse

Amicable numbers

===

Homemade clam pasta and a tiramisu that somehow tasted...erotic

===

Fedora felt a great rising heat, and she wasn't standing near an oven

The sea sparkles like a carpet of sapphires

Flowers bloom in an explosion of colour

Waltzers spin like whirling dervishes

===

A demure non-fizzy mentos

The fine notes of bitterness make it perfect for a more mature audience

===

I can appreciate the heat
Contact lens boiling in your eye
Hot oranges; warm juice from a tangerine
A hedgehog really on fire
Two dolphins with flame throwers
The Backstreet Boys all lighting matches at the same time

===

Hairy boy dairy
Ripe juicy peach
Perfect for a picnic
Especially on the beach
If you find them too spherical
Just slice it with a knife
Put half in our pocket
And give half to your wife.

Fury of the Storm

A seascape of a stormy blue sea, the waves rising high, the spray flying

The sky was blue in parts, and white in others

Sea-gulls tossed by the tempestuous wind

Swirling round the bottom of a high cliff, tumbling over the rocks and a wave coming up behind it

Bobbing on that wave was a little red boat with two tiny sailors in it swept by foaming waves
